When is a fixed chassis the better choice?

A fixed chassis suits high-frequency work with stable container sizes and positions. It is lighter and simpler, but covers fewer layouts than an extendable chassis.

What does the sliding bogie change?

It moves the axle group to improve weight distribution and traction, especially with heavy 20 ft containers. It is not simply another way to change frame length.
